A Truck for
Pastor Eligio

Dear Partner,

It is always a blessing to partner with one another for the purposes of God. Would you pray with me about meeting a strategic need for a pastor and ministry in central Mexico? Thank you for considering this opportunity.

Pastor Eligio Sanchez is a dedicated minister of the Gospel. His life is a miracle, and his journey is both sacred and significant. He was mentored and discipled under the late Dr. John Cook, who had gone to the Morelia, Mexico area in the late 1970s. Dr. and Lucia Cook began by reaching children, and by 1980, their ministry had expanded through preaching and medical clinics. Miracles were taking place.

On one occasion, a young wife and mother received a touch from God. She told her husband, and he decided to pay a visit to the doctor. Eligio, then a member of the cartel, came to the gate and insisted on meeting Dr. John. Eligio not only met the doctor—he met Jesus that day. Eligio’s life was changed, and he became the first pastor-in-training in Dr. Cook’s four-year Bible institute.

Dr. Cook was introduced to Rev. Loran Helm’s ministry in 1989 through Pastor James Wright. John and Lucia Cook submitted their ministry to Rev. Helm’s leadership and personal care. Shortly thereafter, Pastor Eligio visited the US with the Cooks, and he was blessed to meet with Rev. Helm personally. Eligio is one of many pastors in Mexico who received not only a solid biblical training from Dr. Cook but also a rich spiritual deposit from Rev. Helm’s teaching and example.

Pastor Eligio is truly the firstfruits of Dr. Cook’s outreach into Mexico. Today, he is the lead pastor of the Bethsaida Ministerial Group, a network of pastors who remain connected to Lucia and Kermit Beaver and are dedicated to the heritage they received from Dr. Cook and Rev. Helm. They continue to value and distribute Rev. Helm’s autobiography, A Voice in the Wilderness. I was blessed to meet Brother Eligio and spend time with the Bethsaida group earlier this year.

Pastor Eligio is a fisherman by trade. He works hard all week and spends his weekends traveling for ministry into areas that are often very remote and nearly inaccessible by most vehicles. For years, he used a donkey. He travels now with a team to a different village each Saturday to reach people in places where there is no church building. They are often outdoors unless someone offers a home or other dwelling.

The vehicle he currently uses is at the end of its life and usefulness. I am confident the Lord would be pleased for him to have a more suitable off-road truck for travel and transport of both people and equipment. His Kingdom assignment takes him off-road, as you can see in some of the images. Kermit and Lucia certainly desire to see Pastor Eligio continue in his traveling ministry. We will partner with them as the Lord helps us to provide this much-needed vehicle.

Please pray with me about sowing a gift for this Kingdom need. If we rally efficiently enough, and with sufficient faith, he can obtain a truck soon. The goal is $25,000 (US) by Thanksgiving this year. Your gift will help them bring the Word of God to lives that otherwise might never hear of or experience the life of God. This is good soil.
